Valenzuela City, DepEd Honor 14 'Catalysts of Change'
Fourteen public school teachers were recognized recently by the City Government of Valenzuela and the local division of the Department of Education (DepEd) for their exemplary service during the Win na Win Search for Outstanding Teachers.
The awardees demonstrated qualities of "effective, innovative and creative
teaching strategies" and each were awarded with a P10,000 cash incentive and
a plaque of recognition from City Mayor Sherwin T. Gatchalian.
DepEd Valenzuela Division Superintendent Dr. Flordeliza Mayari in her speech said
the "winners are models of professionalism and dedication." The official
expressed her confidence that these 14 teachers will be able to influence
and motivate their colleagues as well.
The search underscores the commitment of the city government to promote
a culture
of excellence in education by recognizing the best mentors who can be
upheld as models for the academe.
"We are expected to be molders of mind and hearts," Dr. Mayari said "
we are indeed catalysts of change and transformers of lives -
roles which all make teachers heroes."
The awardees for elementary category per subject area are:
Erlinda S. Manalo of Pio Valenzuela Elementary School,
North District for English, Rizza B. Balcita of Canumay East
Elementary School, Central District for Mathematics, Shirley M.
Claridades of P. R. San Diego Elementary School, North District for
Science, Josefina A. Bartolo of Malinta Elementary School,
Central District for Filipino, Clarita M. Panganiban of Pasolo
Elementary School, North District for HEKASI, Edna A.
Delina of Canumay West Elementary School, Central District
for EPP and Lydia C. Rojales of Canumay West Elementary School,
South District for MSEP.
For the secondary category on the other hand, the winners
per subject area are: Nelia Lavarez of Canumay National High
School for English, Serafin SD. Raymundo II of Dalandanan
National High School for Mathematics, Juliana D. Tamayo of Valenzuela
City Science High School for Science and Technology, Ma. Lorena Z. dela
Cruz of Polo Naional High School for Filipino, Edna C. Lucanas of Valenzuela
City Science High School for Araling Panlipunan, Renato D. Cruz of Gen
. T. de Leon National High School for TLE, Alfredo A. Galicia of
Valenzuela National High School for MAPEH and Erlinda Ongjungco,
an education supervisor retiree of DCS-Valenzuela.
The awards were processed through a thorough selection with 100
nominees submitted by their principals from various public
elementary and secondary schools in Valenzuela. They
underwent teaching demonstrations and careful evaluation
that culminated with only 14 being shortlisted as awardees during
the ceremony held at the Valenzuela City Auditorium.
